longitudine, altitudineque, & cum tuborum ſalientibus compa­
rari, ut facit Merſennus in ſuis Hydraulicis Propoſit. 28. ſed
quoniam valde incerta ſunt & quæ Merſennus affert, & quæ à
me, & à quocunque alio, varijs experientijs inventa, afferri poſ­
ſunt; ſatiùs judicavi, omnino abſtinere.
Dependet enim ſalien­
tium hujuſmodi longitudo atque altitudo, non à tuborumlongi­
tudine, ſed potiſſimùm ab aëris intra fontem compreſſi vehe­
mentia, quæ infinitis modis variari poteſt; & cùm omnia exper­
tus fueris, dubius adhuc hærebis.
Dici præterea multa poſſent de fluxu aquæ per tubos incli­
natos & horizontales; examinarique, quæ habet Joannes Bapti­
ſta Balianus lib 4. & 5. de Motu gravium, ſeu lib. 1. & 2. de motu
liquidorum: at quoniam hæc non admodum conducunt fini no­
ſtro in hoc Opere intento, & longiorem ſermonem requirunt;
omittenda potiùs omnino quàm paucis perſtringenda pu­
tavi, acturus de illis in Mechanica Univerſali.
