Cardinalis, has lucubrationes meas dicare conſtitue-
rim.
tantis enim beneficijs à te affectus, quanta fem-
per &
meminero, & prædicabo; tanta liberalitate cõ-
plexus, quantam ne optare quidem unquam auſus eſ
ſem.
cupio memorem, & erga te gratum animũ qua
ratione poſſum, oſtendere.
quãuis ſi de te nihil aliud
præter auditum haberem, ſi amplitudini tuæ tanto-
pere deuinctus non eſſem;
tua in omni genere diſci-
plinarum excellentia, tua grauitas, atque innocentia
me magnopere hortata eſſet, ut te potisſimum deli-
gerem, ſub cuius clarisſimi nominis ſplendore hi Ar-
chimedis libri ab obliuione hominum, atque à ſilen-
tio uindicarentur.
uerecundius de te in præſentia di-
cerem, ne uiderer aſſentationi potius, quàm ueritati
ſeruire;
niſi omnibus perſuaſisſimum eſſet, diuinas &
inauditas uirtutes tuas cum ſingulari eruditione con
iunctas in illo ſanctisſimo Reip.
chriſtianæ conſilio
tanquam lumen aliquod elucere.
quamobrem ea,
qua ſoles, benignitate, fidelisſimi clientis tui munus
accipies;
quod tibi, qui & mathematicis diſciplinis,
&
phiſiologiæ ſtudijs tantopere delectaris, non iniu-
cundum fore confido.

Federicus Commandinus.
