From Anderson:
It is an enormous work in six Books, of which the third deals with tactics and the fourth with shipbuilding. The rest is navigation. The first four Books are in one volume of two Parts, each Book with separate pagination. This is a small folio volume with a page of type 94 inches high. Book v is larger and Book vI, the atlas, has plates 14 inches high. The second edition, Florence, 1661, is printed in double columns 16 inches high. The section on shipbuilding, 39 pages with 19 plates in the first edition, is concerned mainly with the various proposed types (Galerata, Calizabra, etc.), the plans of which have been reproduced in Charnock and elsewhere. Probably this section was written some years before it was printed.
It may be mentioned that there is a MS. in the British Museum (Add. 22811) which contains these plans and other drawings and is apparently Dudley"s preliminary draught for this part of his book. Here part of the work is ascribed to the year 1629.
