Ecquid agat, rogitant blande: tum fauſta precantur;
Et damnant voti, promiſſaque carmina poſcunt.
Contra ille;
O Pueri, quid portet craſtinus Eos,
Sedi explorator:
turmales agmine mergi,
Solivaga aut cornix, aut alcyones deſertæ
Si qua darent mihi ſigna.
maris cras æquor arandum.
Detinuit nunc uſque fovis clementia ſudi,
Et picturatus tot circum animalibus æther.

Quæ nos in vitreo miramur monſtra profundo,
Fert radians æther, vultus formasque natantum.

Cancer ibi eſt, delphinque;
eſt grandi corpore cetus.
Ad Boream piſces, &
contemplere ſub Auſtro
Piſces;
nuper ubi numero creviſſe feruntur.
Sunt urna, fluviusque, &
apluſtris comta carina
Illic.
quin operis ſimulamina plurima veſtri,
Luminaque in cœlo pecori debentia nomen.

Sunt hœdi parvæque ſues, materque capella.

Et fuſe ſparſo quæ candet ſemita lacte.

Veſtibulum ſervant, elucens vellere fulvo
Dux aries, ingensque auratus cornua taurus.

Bini cernunturque canes, pernoxque bubulcus;

Plauſtraque;
quique auriga ſuis excuſſus habenis.
Stellatum volat alatus per inane caballus:

Ac præſepe ſuum juxta ſtabulantur aſelli.

Illic virgo, manum Cereali inluſtris ariſta,
Et, tranſmutatus faciem, Pan ipſe renidet;

Daphnin amans veſtrum, ſecretæ rupis in umbra,
Uranie velut edocuit:
me ſingula Daphnis.
Singula quæ (carmen quia poſcitis) ordine pandam.
Extemplo tentat vocem: numerosque modosque
Perpendens mulcet variis concentibus auras.
Tum venti poſuere. jacet ſine fluctibus æquor;
Factaque ſunt terris, ſunt facta ſilentia ponto.

Mox interfatur:
Quod proſperet; ab fove magno
Ordiar:
ordiri conſuerunt ab fove vates.
Vos, nec enim rerum brevis hic mihi naſcitur
