            anderen Schulter des Orionbildes ſeinen Stand hat, weiß man,
              <lb/>
            daß er ſich uns nähert. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1741" xml:space="preserve">Zwar iſt die Annäherung nur gering-
              <lb/>
            fügig. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1742" xml:space="preserve">Sie beträgt pro Sekunde nur etwas über 1 {1/2} Kilo-
              <lb/>
            meter, und dabei walten noch Zweifel über die Sicherheit dieſer
              <lb/>
            Meſſung ob; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1743" xml:space="preserve">aber jedenfalls ſteht das feſt, daß dieſer Stern
              <lb/>
            gar keinen Zuſammenhang mit dem Stern an der anderen
              <lb/>
            Schulter hat. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1744" xml:space="preserve">Auch von den zwei Sternen an den Füßen des
              <lb/>
            Orionbildes kann man gleichfalls mit Beſtimmtheit ſagen, daß
              <lb/>
            ſie nicht in ihren Bewegungen einen Zuſammenhang verraten.

            <s xml:id="echoid-s1745" xml:space="preserve">Der eine derſelben, der Stern erſter Größe, hat noch nicht in
              <lb/>
            ſeiner Bedeutung ermittelt werden können; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1746" xml:space="preserve">der Stern dritter
              <lb/>
            Größe am anderen Fuße des Orionbildes nähert ſich uns aber
              <lb/>
            entſchieden, und zwar mit einer Geſchwindigkeit von etwa
              <lb/>
            4 Kilometer in der Sekunde. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1747" xml:space="preserve">— Auch die drei Sterne im
              <lb/>
            Gürtel des Orion, der ſogenannte “Jakobsſtab,” bewegen ſich
              <lb/>
            durchaus nicht wie ein zuſammenhängendes Gebilde. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1748" xml:space="preserve">Der eine
              <lb/>
            Stern rechts im Gürtel ſcheint ſich von uns zu entfernen, ſein
              <lb/>
            Nachbar dagegen nähert ſich uns ganz entſchieden, und zwar
              <lb/>
            mit einer Geſchwindigkeit von 35 Kilometer in der Sekunde. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1749" xml:space="preserve">
              <lb/>
            Der dritte der Genoſſen hat ſeine Bewegung noch nicht ver-
              <lb/>
            raten, iſt aber jedenfalls in keinem Zuſammenhang mit ſeinen
              <lb/>
            Genoſſen.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s1751" xml:space="preserve">Die Entſcheidung über die Bewegung des Nebels des
              <lb/>
            Orion iſt für jetzt unmöglich zu treffen. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1752" xml:space="preserve">Er bietet keinen
              <lb/>
            ſichern Punkt für die Meſſung, da er in ſeinen Umriſſen außer-
              <lb/>
            ordentlich unbeſtimmt iſt.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s1754" xml:space="preserve">Wie gering nun auch die Zahl der ſicheren Beobachtungen
              <lb/>
            hierin iſt, ſo ſteht doch ſo viel feſt, daß es ein leeres Phantaſie-
              <lb/>
            ſtück iſt, was heidniſche Sagen und bibliſche Annahmen über
              <lb/>
            dieſes Himmelsgebilde uns darbieten.</s>
