            <s xml:id="echoid-s3133" xml:space="preserve">Ihr Bau und ihre Lage

            iſt ſymmetriſch, aber ihre Bewegung, ihre Empfindung und
              <lb/>
            ihre Thätigkeit iſt zugleich harmoniſch.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s3135" xml:space="preserve">Den ſymmetriſchen Bau der Augen merkt man leicht. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3136" xml:space="preserve">Der
              <lb/>
            Thränenwinkel des rechten Auges liegt links, der Thränen-
              <lb/>
            winkel des linken Auges liegt rechts; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3137" xml:space="preserve">der Schläfenwinkel des
              <lb/>
            rechten Auges iſt rechts, der Schläfenwinkel des linken Auges
              <lb/>
            links. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3138" xml:space="preserve">Auch die Muskeln zur Bewegung des Auges ſind ſym-
              <lb/>
            metriſch in Bau und Lage; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3139" xml:space="preserve">aber trotzdem wirken ſie in Har-
              <lb/>
            monie. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3140" xml:space="preserve">Wendet man das rechte Auge zum Thränenwinkel, ſo
              <lb/>
            muß man zugleich das linke Auge zum Schläfenwinkel richten.

            <s xml:id="echoid-s3141" xml:space="preserve">Es drehen ſich demnach beide Augen zugleich nach links, wie
              <lb/>
            ſie ſich beide zugleich nach rechts drehen müſſen (ſ. </s>

            Sie bewegen ſich, wie wir bereits früher gezeigt haben, trotz der
              <lb/>
            ſymmetriſchen Lage harmoniſch. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3146" xml:space="preserve">Eine noch tiefere Harmonie aber
              <lb/>
            liegt in der Empfindung und der Thätigkeit der Nerventapete,
              <lb/>
            wie dies höchſt ſinnreiche Verſuche und Forſchungen nachgewieſen
              <lb/>
            haben. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3147" xml:space="preserve">Wäre dies nicht der Fall, ſo würden wir nicht nur
              <lb/>
            ſtets Doppelbilder ſehen, ſondern wir würden zwei verſchiedene
              <lb/>
            Bilder von allen Gegenſtänden wahrnehmen. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3148" xml:space="preserve">Um dies deutlich
              <lb/>
            zu machen, wollen wir folgendes Beiſpiel vorführen. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3149" xml:space="preserve">Geſetzt,
              <lb/>
            wir ſehen das Bild einer großen Schlange vor uns, deren
              <lb/>
            Kopf rechts, deren Schwanz links liegt. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3150" xml:space="preserve">Von dieſer Schlange
              <lb/>
            haben wir ſowohl in unſerem rechten, wie in unſerem linken
              <lb/>
            Auge ein verkehrtes, kleines Bildchen, das wir eigentlich auf
              <lb/>
            der Nerventapete empfinden. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3151" xml:space="preserve">Aber wie liegt das Bildchen
              <lb/>
            dieſer Schlange in unſeren zwei Augen? </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3152" xml:space="preserve">In unſerem rechten
              <lb/>
            Auge liegt der Kopf der Schlange nach unſerer Naſe, im linken
              <lb/>
            Auge liegt der Kopf der Schlange nach unſerer Schläfe hin. </s>

            Wenn wir nun trotzdem nur eine Schlange wahrnehmen und
              <lb/>
            über die Lage ihres Kopfes nicht in Zweifel ſind, ſo kann
              <lb/>
            dies nur dadurch geſchehen, daß die Empfindung und Thätig-
              <lb/>
            keit der Nerventapete beider Augen nicht ſymmetriſch, </s>
