            <emph style="bf">VIII. Wie man ſich Waſſerſtoffgas machen kann.</emph>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s3651" xml:space="preserve">Waſſerſtoffgas kommt als ſolches in der Natur nur ganz
              <lb/>
            ſelten vor. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3652" xml:space="preserve">Das Gas, wenn es ſich irgendwo, wie z. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3653" xml:space="preserve">B. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3654" xml:space="preserve">in vul-
              <lb/>
            kaniſchen Gaſen, frei entwickelt, ſteigt ſofort in der Luft in die
              <lb/>
            Höhe, weil es an vierzehnmal leichter iſt als unſere atmoſphäriſche
              <lb/>
            Luft. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3655" xml:space="preserve">Es iſt daher auch kein Wunder, daß man dieſes Gas
              <lb/>
            erſt ſeit etwa hundert Jahren genauer kennt, obwohl es als
              <lb/>
            Hauptbeſtandteil des Waſſers in gar gewaltigen Maſſen in
              <lb/>
            der Natur exiſtiert. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3656" xml:space="preserve">Das Waſſer beſteht aus einem Maß
              <lb/>
            Sauerſtoff und zwei Maß Waſſerſtoff. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3657" xml:space="preserve">Wenn man nun ein
              <lb/>
            Mittel anwendet, wodurch man einer Maſſe Waſſer den Sauer-
              <lb/>
            ſtoff entzieht, ſo wird der Waſſerſtoff frei, und bei einer geeig-
              <lb/>
            neten Vorrichtung kann man denſelben ganz gut auffangen.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s3659" xml:space="preserve">Man hat viele Mittel, dies zu erreichen; </s>

            es in der leichteſten und bequemſten Manier verſuchen.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s3662" xml:space="preserve">Man ſchüttet in eine gewöhnliche Flaſche eine Handvoll
              <lb/>
            kleine Stückchen Zink, wie ſie jeder Klempner für ein paar
              <lb/>
            Pfennige abläßt. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3663" xml:space="preserve">Auch eine Handvoll kleine Nägel iſt dazu
              <lb/>
            brauchbar. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3664" xml:space="preserve">Sodann gießt man verdünnte Schwefelſäure in die
              <lb/>
            Flaſche, ſo daß ſie etwa halb voll wird. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3665" xml:space="preserve">Man wird ſofort
              <lb/>
            ſehen, daß von dem Zink oder den eiſernen Nägeln Luftblaſen
              <lb/>
            aufſteigen und als Gas aus der Flaſche hinausſtrömen. </s>
