            zu erklären, reſp. </s>

            die Eingangs ſchon erwähnte Anſicht der Herkunft der Laud-

            pflanzen von Waſſerpflanzen ſtützen zu helfen.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s3377" xml:space="preserve">Deutlich weiſen alſo die Luftpflanzen der Vorwelt und
              <lb/>
            auch die heutigen Pflanzen noch auf ihre Herkunft aus dem
              <lb/>
            Waſſer hin, und zwar werden wir nicht fehlgehen, wenn wir
              <lb/>
            zu der älteſten Vorfahren-Reihe derſelben Algen von dem
              <lb/>
            Typus des ſchon vorn erwähuten Blaſen-Tang, jene bekannte
              <lb/>
            Meeres-Alge rechuen, die ſo häufig an den Strand der Oſtſee
              <lb/>
            und Nordſee ausgeworfen wird und durch ihre Gabel-Ver-
              <lb/>
            zweigung auffallend iſt, an die noch heute ſo vieles andere
              <lb/>
            höchſt-entwickelter Pflanzen erinnert.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s3379" xml:space="preserve">Man unterſcheidet Braun- und Rot-Tauge, der Blaſen-
              <lb/>
            tang gehört zu den erſteren, und die erwähnte Anknüpfung an
              <lb/>
            die Brauntange iſt auch deshalb nächſtliegend, weil dieſe Algen
              <lb/>
            in der Strandregion wachſen, alſo dem trockenen Lande näher
              <lb/>
            ſind als die Rot-Algen, die in größeren Meeres-Tiefen zu
              <lb/>
            Hauſe ſind. </s>

            von brauntangähnlichen, im Meere lebenden Pflanzen zu </s>
