gnum tardiùs in hydrargyro aſcendere debuiſſe;
quàm per aquam ob maiorem illius reſiſtentiam; ſed
propter contrarietatem, & inimicitiam, quam habet
lignum cum Mercurio, ſuum curſum accelerat vt ex­

peditè mercurium fugiat, & aquam aeremque aſſe­
quatur; quod symbolum elementum, atque amicum
eſt; & propterea ceſſante odio non cogitur celerri­
mè ab eo diſcedere.
Sed vide quàm faciles ſint præ­
dicti philoſophi; qui occaſione exigente non veren­
tur
alitèr reſpondere, nam ſi ego quæram, quare gra­
uitas, quæ certè ineſt in hiſce terrenis corporibus,
celeriùs transfert ſaxum, quò magis ad terram acce­
dit, atque ei approximatur; reſpondent quia vicinia

terræ veluti roboratur vis motiua ſaxi cadentis; ſic
paritèr leuitas veſicę aereę creſcere deberet in aquę
ſummitate, quia nempè aeri approximatur, & ideò
virtus eius motiua roborari quoque deberet.
Sed
his omiſſis ſummi poſſunt diuerſa corpora, quæ na­
turam, & temperiem diuerſam, & contrariam aquæ
habeant, ſimillimam verò mercurio, & talis fortaſſe
erit ampulla vitrea, vel veſica, quæ repleatur mercu­
rio ſublimato, vel pręcipitato; ſic quoque vas fieri
poſſet ex metallo, vel alio corpore ſimillimo hy­
drargyro, vt nimirùm efficiatur compoſitum cuius
natura valdè diuerſa ſit ab aqua, & ſimillima hydrar­
gyro, & ſic omninò tolleretur inimicitia, & antipa­
thia inter vas, & fluidum craſſius mercuriale, nihi­
lominùs obſeruabitur prædictum vas velociùs aſcen­
dere per hydrargyrum, tardo verò motu per aquam,
