            fünfzelliges Stück gewiſſer jener grünen, feinen Algenfäden, die
              <lb/>
            in unſeren Teichen, Steine und dergleichen überziehend, überall
              <lb/>
            zu finden ſind, neben einander liegend und in eigentümlicher
              <lb/>
            Weiſe mit einander verwachſen. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1353" xml:space="preserve">Urſprünglich war jeder dieſer
              <lb/>
            beiden Fäden frei wie das Fadenſtück I: </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1354" xml:space="preserve">ſie haben ſich ihrer
              <lb/>
            Länge nach parallel an einander gelegt und die gegenüber
              <lb/>
            liegenden Zellen der Fäden haben zuerſt kleine Ausſackungen,
              <lb/>
            die gegen einander gerichtet ſind, gebildet, wie dies bei a und b
              <lb/>
            zu ſehen iſt. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1355" xml:space="preserve">Dieſe Ausſackungen ſtellen — wie c veranſchau-
              <lb/>
            licht — durch Auflöſung der trennenden Wand eine offene
              <lb/>
            Verbindung zwiſchen den beiden Zellen her. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1356" xml:space="preserve">Der eigentümlich
              <lb/>
            geſtaltete, ſchleimig-flüſſige (protoplasmatiſche) Inhalt jeder
              <lb/>
            Zelle mitſamt dem grünen Spiralbande hat ſich zu einer
              <lb/>
            Kugel zuſammengeballt, und der Inhalt der einen iſt ſchließ-
              <lb/>
            lich in die andere Zelle durch den entſtandenen Kanal hinüber-
              <lb/>
            gewandert, um hier mit der Protoplasma-Kugel dieſer Zelle
              <lb/>
            zu verſchmelzen. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1357" xml:space="preserve">Bei c iſt der Inhalt der Zelle links auf
              <lb/>
            der Wanderung in die Zelle rechts und Vereinigung mit dem
              <lb/>
            Inhalt derſelben begriffen. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1358" xml:space="preserve">Bei d iſt die Vereinigung voll-
              <lb/>
            zogen, und das entſtandene protoplasmatiſche Gebilde Sp um-
              <lb/>
            giebt ſich dann (III) mit einer feſten Haut. </s>

              <lb/>
            (III) nun wächſt unter günſtigen Bedingungen und nachdem
              <lb/>
            es eine Ruheperiode im Grunde des Gewäſſers durchgemacht
