            loro quel nome che non à mimi, & </s>

            mente conuiene al ſommo artefice, che altro in quel ge-

            nere non è che il Poeta medeſimo perſe ſteſſo honorato,

            enobiliſsimo. </s>

            Mecanici hà conſperſo il nome di quella bruttura che
              <lb/>
            hoggidi porta ſeco. </s>

              <lb/>
            cagione che ciò ſi ſia auenuto, baſta, che ſi può ridurre à

            l’ignoranza del vulgo, & </s>

            trattati da quei gran Filoſofi, come erano Archita, Eu-

            l’hauer hauuto per lodatori i Polibij, i Plutarchi, i Clau-

            diani, etante altre perſoneſingolari. </s>

              <lb/>
            ca riputatione di coloro, che v’attendono, naſcere di qui,
              <lb/>
            che poco ſiano neceſſarie queſte arti al vitto humano: </s>

            che quanto ſia inconueniente, ſi miſuri dalla nobiltà del
              <lb/>
            fornaio, del calzolaio, e del facchino, de l’arte de’ quali

            non vi è coſa più neceſſaria, & </s>

            quella del Poeta, tutto che i Poemi, ne ſi mangino, ne ſi

            calzino, ne aiutino i mercatãti à ſtiuar le naui, ne ad empi

            ti, ma ignobilitate da gl’accidenti, che diceuamo; </s>

              <lb/>
            nobiltàloro potiamo accorgerci di qui, che l’inuention
              <lb/>
            loro è antichiſsima, & </s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s265" xml:space="preserve">che è
              <lb/>
            marauiglioſa, che prin cipalmente è aiutata dalla purità,
              <lb/>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s266" xml:space="preserve">dalla finezza de l’intelletto; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s267" xml:space="preserve">che non imbratta il corpo,
              <lb/>
            che non hà molto biſogno della forza dilui; </s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s269" xml:space="preserve">in ſomma,
              <lb/>
            che perſe ſteſſa nõ è dirizzata al guadagno, ma ſolamen-
              <lb/>
            te ad vn piacere, che fra quelli del ſenſo, come quello del-
              <lb/>
            la muſica è puro, & </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s270" xml:space="preserve">honeſto, ne meno di quello ſe ne paſſa
              <lb/>
            alla ricreatione dell’intelletto, del che è ſegno il veder noi
              <lb/>
            mentre le ſtatuette da ſe ſteſſe ſi muouono, gl’huomini </s>
