              il faut donner à celle qui auroit plus ou moins de largeur, car il

              n’y a point de doute, qu’il ne faille regler l’épaiſſeur à proportion,

              <s xml:id="echoid-s8129" xml:space="preserve">c’eſt ce que l’on pourra faire en ſuivant la regle que voici.</s>

              <s xml:id="echoid-s8131" xml:space="preserve">Voulant conſtruire un Magaſin de 36 pieds de largeur, couvert
                <lb/>
              par une Voûte en plain ceintre; </s>
              <s xml:id="echoid-s8132" xml:space="preserve">on demande quelle épaiſſeur il faut

              lui donner dans le milieu des reins, pour qu’elle ſoit à l’épreuve: </s>

              faut dire, ſi le diamétre de 25 pieds donne 9 pour le quarré de l’épaiſſeur
                <lb/>
              de la Voûte qui eſt à l’épreuve, qui donnera 36 pieds diamétre d’une

              autre Voûte, pour le quarré de ſon épaiſſeur, afin qn’elle ſoit auſſi à
                <lb/>
              l’épreuve; </s>

              qui eſt 3 pieds 7 pouces 2 lignes, ſera au juſte l’épaiſſeur que l’on

              ſujet de la reſiſtance des bois, dans le deuxiéme Chapitre de ce

              quatriéme Livre, peut s’apliquer à celle des Voûtes, on apercevra
                <lb/>
              ſans peine la demonſtration de cette regle; </s>

              arrêterai pas, pour ne point faire une trop longue digreſſion: </s>

              gueur des vouſſoirs pour les arches des Ponts, de telle grandeur

              pour renfermer des munitions de guerre ou de bouche, on leur

              la bombe, par celle qui couvre le Magaſin qui eſt au-deſſus, il

              ſuffit de leur donner deux pieds d’épaiſſeur, à l’endroit de la clef

              pour être parfaitement à l’épreuve.</s>
