In dieſer Weiſe macht nun der Telegraphiſt durch ein-
maliges Auftippen auf den Knopf einen Punkt; durch Ver-
weilen des Fingers auf dem Knopf einen Strich, und ſo ver-
mag er Buchſtaben zuſammenzuſetzen und ganze Worte daraus
zu bilden.

Freilich iſt dies nicht einfach, wie das Telegraphieren
beim Siemens- und Halske’ſchen Apparat; aber durch gute
Übung lernt man doch vortrefflich ſowohl in dieſer Weiſe
ſchreiben, wie das Geſchriebene leſen. Es verſteht ſich von
ſelbſt, daß zwiſchen einem Buchſtaben und einem andern ein
kleiner leerer Raum und zwiſchen einem Wort und dem andern
ein größerer Raum gelaſſen wird, ſo daß ſich Buchſtabe von
Buchſtabe und Wort von Wort ziemlich getrennt hält. Wie
weit man es in der Übung gebracht, davon kann man ſchöne
Proben vorlegen. Das Telegraphieren geht ſo ſchnell, daß
dem Ungeübten dabei Hören und Sehen vergeht, und das Leſen
der Depeſchen geſchieht mit ſolcher Geſchwindigkeit, als ob man
gedruckte Papierſtreifen vor ſich hätte.
