quo longius à terra receſſerit;
atq; adeo eclipſes fieri inæquales, quoad magni
tudinem, ac durationem.
Verum hæc minor, maiorve diſtantia Lunæ à terra
in eclipſi Lunari tribui nullo modo poteſt eius Eccentrico.
Ratione enim Ec-
centrici Luna in omni eclipſi tam Solari, quàm Lunari eandem habet à terra
diſtantiã;
propterea quòd Luna (ut in eius Theorica declarabitur) tam in con-
iunctionibus eius cum Sole, quàm in oppoſitionibus (Fit autẽ omnis eclipſis
Solis in aliqua coniunctione, &
eclipſis Lunæ in oppoſitione aliqua) ſemper
in Auge ſui Eccentrici exiſtit.
Confugiendum igitur eſt ad Epicyclũ. Sic enim
ſine magno labore tuebimur hanc inæqualitatem eclipſiũ Lunariũ, licet lumi
naria ambo eundẽ ſitũ habeant, quoad caput, &
caudã Draconis, æqualiterq́@
ſemper Solà terra diſtet, &
Luna in Auge ſui Eccentrici exiſtat. Nam in una
eclipſium poteſt Luna eſſe in puncto Epicycli terræ proximo, in alia uero in
puncto remotiſſimo à terra.
Vnde maior erit prior eclipſis, longioriq; tẽpore
durabit, quàm poſterior:
quia in illa pertrãſit Luna maiorẽ umbram terræ, in
hac autem minorem.
