5427DAPHNIS ECLOGA.
Daphnidis ad gratum nomen pernice chorea
Exſultant alacres Pueri:
neque ſegnius ipſe
Proſequitur;
Geminas imitantia lumina falces
Hactenus ut vane Saturni credita ſidus
Oblongo tam diverſa ſub imagine diſco
Fingere, quando globum teretem teres annulus extra
Splendet, &
ambo nigror ſpatii diſterminat intus;
Exiguo circum quos erret ſtellula gyro:
Omnia divino quæ fretus munere Daphnis
Extulerit, non ante novam vulgata per artem:

Adjungitque;
quod his meritis permulſus, eundem
In ſua magna Chronus ſit adire ſacraria paſſus:

Heic oculis luſtrarit ut omnia;
promſerit atque
Inventum ſubtile ſecandi temporis illinc;

Partes quo minimas ac momina dividat horæ,
Oſcilla ex tenui ſuſpendens mollia filo:

Id labyrintheos curſus qui dirigat alni,
Ignarumque viæ ratis haud ſinat eſſe magiſtrum:

Cui neque quotidie tam certus ſpondeat auctor,
Oceano quantum Titan altiſſimus exſtet;

Ac quibus emergat, queis tunc ſimul occidat oris,
Daphnidos egregio norint conamine docti.
Ille canit: chorus in numerum ſua brachia quaſſant,
Alternoque ſolum pede pulſant.
at freta ſaltu
Librabant hilares ſeſe ſuper humida thynni.
Auritus leporum populus tunc creditur ultro
Iliceas liquiſſe domos, carasque quietes
Vicini nemoris:
nulloque frequentior unquam
Caricis arroſor prodiiſſe cuniculus antris
Tempore narratur;
narrent ſi vera puellæ
Littoreæ, quæ ſiccandis cuſtodia paſſim
Retibus ad ventos expanſis forte ſedebant.

Pectore Nereïdes nudo, laſciva caterva,
Viſa per incertam Lunam, viſæve putantur,
Et Triton, Glaucusque, procul ſub luce maligna;

Tuque, cubans juxta ſtratas prope littora
