              <s>We made likewiſe a ſtrong Ligature a­

              bout the middle of a long Bladder part­
                <lb/>
              ly empty'd, and upon the drawing the
                <lb/>
              Air out of the Receiver, could obſerve
                <lb/>
              no ſuch ſwelling betwixt the Ligature and
                <lb/>
              the Neck of the Bladder, which had been
                <lb/>
              purpoſely left open, as betwixt the ſame
                <lb/>
              Ligature and the bottom of the Bladder,
                <lb/>
              whence the included Air could no way
                <lb/>
              get out. </s>

              <s>But a further and ſufficient manifeſtati­
                <lb/>
              on whence the intumeſſence of the Blad­
                <lb/>
              der proceeds, may be deduc'd from the
                <lb/>
              following Experiment. </s>
