            den oberen Regionen allmählich abkühlen, ſo können ſie nicht
              <lb/>
            mehr ſo viel Waſſerdampf aufgelöſt in ſich enthalten, als ſie
              <lb/>
            es bei der höheren Temperatur am Erdboden vermochten: </s>

              <lb/>
            Waſſerdampf, bis dahin unſichtbar, “kondenſiert” ſich, bildet
              <lb/>
            Wolken und fällt bei noch ſtärkerer Abkühlung als Regen
              <lb/>
            heraus. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1166" xml:space="preserve">Daher kommt es, daß bei fallendem Barometer ſo
              <lb/>
            oft Regen eintritt; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1167" xml:space="preserve">man ſieht aber auch gleichzeitig, daß das
              <lb/>
            Fallen des Barometers und der Regenguß nur zufällige Begleit-
              <lb/>
            erſcheinungen ſind, daß ſie an und für ſich nichts mit einander
              <lb/>
            zu thun haben. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1168" xml:space="preserve">Enthält der aufſteigende Luftſtrom wenig
              <lb/>
            Waſſerdampf, ſo kann das Barometer fallen, ohne daß Wolken-
              <lb/>
            bildung und Regenfall ſtattfinden. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1169" xml:space="preserve">Das Barometer kann dabei
              <lb/>
            auf “Regen” deuten und doch bleibt das Wetter ſchön; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1170" xml:space="preserve">hat
              <lb/>
            aber deshalb das Barometer “falſch gezeigt”? </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1171" xml:space="preserve">Keineswegs.
              <lb/>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s1172" xml:space="preserve">Falſch doch nur inſofern, als die dem Barometer meiſt bei-
              <lb/>
            gefügten Angaben “Beſtändig”, “Schön”, “Veränderlich”,
              <lb/>
            “Regen”, “Sturm” u. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1173" xml:space="preserve">ſ. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1174" xml:space="preserve">w. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1175" xml:space="preserve">keineswegs zutreffend zu ſein

            brauchen, ſondern
              <emph style="sp">willkürlich</emph>
            dem Barometer vom Verfertiger
              <lb/>
            hinzugefügt wurden.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s1177" xml:space="preserve">Und wie kommt ein Steigen des Luftdrucks zuſtande?

            <s xml:id="echoid-s1178" xml:space="preserve">Nun, wenn im Winter z. </s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s1180" xml:space="preserve">eine ſtarke Abkühlung der Erd-
              <lb/>
            oberfläche ſtattfindet, durch Ausſtrahlung in klaren Nächten,
              <lb/>
            zumal bei einer ausgebreiteten Schneedecke, ſo zieht ſich die
              <lb/>
            Luft ſtark zuſammen, die über einem Ort liegende Luftſäule
              <lb/>
            nimmt alſo ein geringeres Volumen ein als zuvor, es entſteht
              <lb/>
            cine Art Trichter in der Atmoſphäre, in den von allen Seiten Luft einſtrömt. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1181" xml:space="preserve">Dadurch wird das Luftvolumen aber bedeutend
              <lb/>
            vermehrt, der Luftdruck und mit ihm das Barometer ſteigt.
              <lb/>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s1182" xml:space="preserve">Gleichzeitig treten abſteigende Luftſtröme auf, welche imſtande
              <lb/>

              Wirklichkeit ſind die Verhältniſſe viel komplizierter.</note>
