[Commentary:
In 1610, Galileo published a new discovery in the form of an anagram of the letters: smaismrmilmepoetaleumibunenugttauiras. On this and several other pages Harriot tried out sentences made from these letters. Galileo's solution, published later the same year, was a reference to the rings around Saturn:
Altissimum planetam tergeminum
I have observed the most distant of the planets to have a triple
For other attempts by Harriot on this anagram, see Add MS f. f. , Add MS 6789 f. f. , and HMC MS 241.iv f. , and f. ]
Sum mutatus amati mire præ sole lumen abigui
musa mutata mutis.
