              <lb/>
            of the Sun is not able to make them appear ſo
              <lb/>
            bright; </s>

              <lb/>
            cauſe we behold them at a great diſtance
              <lb/>
            through their Regions of Fire which do ſet a
              <lb/>
            ſhining Luſtre upon thoſe Bodies that of them-
              <lb/>
            ſelves are dark. </s>

            nem ignis, terra iſta in circumferentia ſuæ regio-

            ‘that, if a Man were beyond the Region of

            ‘Fire, this Earth would appear through that

            ‘as a bright Star. </s>

            Reaſon, then would the Moon be freed from
              <lb/>
            ſuch Increaſes and Decreaſes as ſhe is now lya-
              <lb/>
            ble unto.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s1566" xml:space="preserve">Keplar thinks that our Earth receives that
              <lb/>
            Light whereby it ſhines, from the Sun, but
              <lb/>
            this (ſaith he) is not ſuch an intended clear
              <lb/>
            brightneſs as the Moon is capable of, and there-
              <lb/>
            fore he gueſfes, that the Earth there is of a
              <lb/>
            more choky ſoil, like the Iſle of Grete, and ſo
              <lb/>
            is better able to reſlect a ſtronger Light, where-
              <lb/>
            as our Earth muſt ſupply this Intention with
              <lb/>
            the quantity of his Body. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s1567" xml:space="preserve">But this I concieve
              <lb/>
            to be a needleſs Conjecture, ſince our Earth,
              <lb/>
            if all things were well conſider’d, will be
              <lb/>
            found able enough to reflect as great a Light.
