            World in their proper ſcituations, that no

            natural cauſe could diſplace them, or make

            them decline from their appointed courſe.

            interpretation of Scripture, even in ſuch

            matters as do meerly concern Opinion, and

              <lb/>
            poſe unto them a ſpeech of S. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3823" xml:space="preserve">Hierome, con-
              <lb/>
            cerning ſome that were of the ſame mind
              <lb/>
            in his time; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3824" xml:space="preserve">Cum novas ſemper expetant vo-
              <lb/>
            luptates, & </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3825" xml:space="preserve">gulæ eorum vicina Maria non ſuf-
              <lb/>
            ficiant, cur in ſolo ſtudio Scripturarum, veteri
              <lb/>
            ſapore contenti ſunt?</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s3827" xml:space="preserve">Thus have I in ſome meaſure cleared the
              <lb/>
            chief Arguments from Scripture, againſt this
              <lb/>
            Opinion. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3828" xml:space="preserve">For which notwithſtanding, I
              <lb/>
            have not thence cited any; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s3829" xml:space="preserve">becauſe I con-
              <lb/>
            ceive the Holy Writ, being chieſly intended
              <lb/>
            to inform us of ſuch things as concern our
              <lb/>
            Faith and Obedience : </s>

            take any proper proof for the conſirmation
              <lb/>
