            that if our Earth had ſuch a Circular Mo-

            tion, then any heavy Body, being let fall
              <lb/>
            from ſome high Tower, or other ſteep
              <lb/>
            place, would not deſcend unto that point of
              <lb/>
            Earth which was directly under it at the be-
              <lb/>
            ginning.</s>

          <p>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s4561" xml:space="preserve">To this we anſwer: </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s4562" xml:space="preserve">That the Air which
              <lb/>
            moves along with our Earth, is as well li-
              <lb/>
            mited in certain bounds, as that which is in-
              <lb/>
            cluded in a Room. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s4563" xml:space="preserve">If you ask where theſe
              <lb/>
            Bounds are terminated: </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s4564" xml:space="preserve">I anſwer, Neither
              <lb/>
            by the utmoſt parts of the World, nor yet
              <lb/>
            by the Concavity of the Moon's Orb, (as
              <lb/>
            Fromond{us} would have us affirm) but by
              <lb/>
            the Sphere of vaporous Air that encompaſſes
              <lb/>
            our Earth; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s4565" xml:space="preserve">or which is all one, by the Orb
              <lb/>
            of Magnetical Vigour, which proceeds from
              <lb/>
            it. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s4566" xml:space="preserve">And beſides, ’tis conſiderable, that all
              <lb/>
            Earthly Bodies are not only contained with-
              <lb/>
            in theſe limits, as things are in a cloſe Room,
              <lb/>
            but alſo as parts in that Whole to which
              <lb/>
            they belong.</s>

            <s xml:id="echoid-s4568" xml:space="preserve">2. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s4569" xml:space="preserve">Though the carrying along of the Me-
              <lb/>
            dium, may ſolve the motion of light Bodies
              <lb/>
            in a Ship, as the Flame of a Candle, Smoke,
              <lb/>
            or the like, yet this cannot concur to that
              <lb/>
            which hath been ſaid of heavy Bodies, as a
              <lb/>
            Man leaping up, a Bullet deſcending, & </s>

              <lb/>
            </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s4571" xml:space="preserve">ſince it is not the motion of the meer Air
              <lb/>
            that is able to make theſe partake of the
              <lb/>
            ſame motion with the Ship. </s>

            Argument which he urges from the Experi-
              <lb/>
            ment of a Stone falling in an open Ship: </s>
