Eclipſe, Lunam aſpiceremus non ſecus ac

‘We ſhould
‘perceive
ſo great a Brightneſs of our own,
‘that
would blind us with the meer Sight, and
‘when
ſhe is enlightned by the Sun, then no
‘Eagles
Eye (if there were any there) is able

look upon her.
This Gardan ſays, and he
does
but ſay it, without bringing any Proof
for
its Confirmation.
However I will ſet
down
the Arguments that are uſually urged
for
this Opinion, and they are taken either from
Scripture
, or Reaſon;
from Scripture is urged
that
Place, 1 Gor.
15. where it is ſaid, There
is
one Glory of the Sun, and another Glory of the
Moon
.
Ulyſſes Albergettus urges that in Math. 24.
20. σελ{ήν}η {οὐ} δωσ{ετ} τὸ φέ{γγ} {ος} ἀυτῆς The Moon
ſhall
not give her Light:
therefore (ſays he)
ſhe
hath ſome of her own.
