Si uerò equi, muli, aſini, clitellarij montes ſcandere poſſunt, eorum clitel­
lis primò ſacci linei uenis repleti imponuntur: quos anguſtis montium uijs,
quæ nec plauſtra nec trahas recipiunt, in ualles, rupibus altis & difficilibus
aditu ſubiectas deferunt.
At in rupibus, in quas iumenta ſcandere non poſ­
ſunt, decliues collocantur longæ capſæ patentes ex aſſeribus factæ, & tabel
lis tranſuerſis, ne concidant, diſtinctæ.
In has uenæ ciſijs, quibus unica eſt ro
ta, aduectas conijciunt: easque in planiciem deuolutas, & uel in ſaccos lineos
collectas iumenta clitellis deferunt, uel in trahas aut plauſtra coniectas de­
uehunt.
Cùm autem aurigæ uenas de arduis montium cliuis deuehunt bi­
rotis utuntur ciſijs, quæ à tergo trahunt duos arborum truncos in terram de­
miſſos: hi ſua grauitate renitentes pronum grauium ciſiorum, quæ in capſis
uenas continent, decurſum impediunt: qui ni eſſent aurigæ ſæpius catenas
rotis implicare cogerentur.
Sed cùm ijdem aurigæ uenas de montibus, qui
carent iſtiuſmodi cliuis, deuehunt, plauſtris, quorum capſæ duplo ſunt lon
giores quàm ciſiorum, utuntur: utrarumque aſſeres ita coagmentati ſunt, ut
cùm uenæ rurſus ab aurigis de plauſtris excutiendæ ſunt, leuari & diſſolui
poſsint.
Nam eos tantummodo repagula coercent. Aurigæ uerò uenarum
plauſtra triginta uel ſexaginta de dominis conducunt deuehenda: quorum
ſingulorum numerum præſes officinæ in bacillo ſignat.
Sed quædam ue­
næ, potiſsimum autem plumbi candidi, è fodinis extractæ in octo partes uel
nouem, ſi domini fodinæ dominis cuniculi dant nonas, diſtribui ſolent: id
rarius fit modulis, ſæpius capſis: quæ ex tignis contiguis, & qua ad cauum
conuertuntur planis, ſunt confectæ.
Dominus uerò quiſque eam par­
tem, quæ ei ſortitò obtigit, auehendam, lauandam,
excoquendam curat.
