1uum uel fluuium, atque in eius alueo reſidet. Vt uerò etiam lapillorum par­
tem metallici capere poſſint, plures in alueo riui uel fluuij faciunt extructio­
nes ſimilimas his, quæ conficiuntur ſupra moletrinas, ut impetus aquarum
deflectant ad foſſas, in quibus curſu ſuo ad rotas profluunt.
Ad alterum au­
tem cuiuſque extructionis latus eſt area ad quinque uel ſex uel ſeptem pedum al­
titudinem
depreſſa, & quaqua uerſus, ſi loci natura ita feret, pedes habens am­
plius ſexaginta: itaque cùm aqua riui uel fluuij autumno & hyeme inundaue
rit terram, tunc fores extructionum clauduntur: quo modo uis aquarum li­
mum cum lapillis permiſtum, rapit in areas: qui uere & æſtate ſimiliter la­
uatur in area linteis extenſis contecta, & in canali deuexo: colligunturque la­
pilli nigri, ſed minutuli.
At cùm alueus riui uel fluuij à domicilijs, in quibus
lauantur lapilli nigri, iam cœperint diſtare quatuor millibus paſſuum, me­
tallici tales extructiones non faciunt, ſed in pratis ſepes obliquas, & ante ſin
gulas eiuſdem longitudinis foſſam, ut limus cum lapillis nigris miſtus, riui
uel fluuij inundationibus raptus in his ſubſideat, ad illas adhæreſcat: qui col­
lectus item in area & canali lauatur, ut lapilli nigri ab eo ſeparentur: certe qui­
dem tales areas & ſepes plurimas, quæ iſtius generis limum excipiunt, in Mi
ſena ſub Aldebergo uidere licet ad Mogelicium fluuium illum ſemper ſub­
rubrum, cùm ſaxa, cum lapillis nigris permiſta, tunduntur pilis.
