At auri ramenta retinent areæ uel tegumentis nudæ, uel tectæ: ſi nudæ, in
earum cauis reſident: ſi tectæ, tegumentis adhæreſcunt.

dis: aut enim filis ferreis uel tabellis tranſuerſis ad aream affixis, aut non pe­
netrantibus foraminibus, uel rotundis in ipſa eiuſué capite cauatis, uel qua­
drangulis, uel tranſuerſis.
Teguntur uerò areæ pellibus aut pannis, aut ceſpi­
tibus: quas ſingulas ordine perſequar.
Ad aſſeris, longi pedes ſex, lati unum
& quadrantem, latera lotor item affigit eminentes tabellas, ne arena, in qua
auri ramenta inſunt, de eis delabatur: Deinde multa fila ferrea, digitum tranſ­
uerſum inter ſe diſtantia, decuſſat, & qua committuntur aſſeri ſupino clauis fer
reis affigit: tum caput altius facit: in hoc arenas lauandas conijcit, & anſas, quas
area ad caput habet, manibus prehendens eam aliquoties in flumine uel ri­
uo ducit & reducit: quo modo lapilli & glareæ per aream deuoluuntur, are
næ, cum auri ramentis miſtæ, in eius cauis, quæ inter fila ſunt, remanent: quas ex­
cuſſas & in unum locum collectas in alueo lauat: atque ſic auri ramenta facit pura.
