            <s xml:id="echoid-s2965" xml:space="preserve">What need the King of Babylon ſend
              <lb/>
            thither to enquire after it? </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2966" xml:space="preserve">If you reply,
              <lb/>
            becauſe it was occaſioned by Hezekiah's Re-
              <lb/>
            covery. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2967" xml:space="preserve">I anſwer, ’Tis not likely that the
              <lb/>
            Heathens would ever believe ſo great a Mi-
              <lb/>
            racle ſhould be wrought, meerly for a Sign
              <lb/>
            of one Man's recovery from a Diſeaſe; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2968" xml:space="preserve">but
              <lb/>
            would rather be apt to think that it was
              <lb/>
            done for ſome more remarkable purpoſe,
              <lb/>
            and that by ſome of their own Gods, unto
              <lb/>
            whom they attributed a far greater power,
              <lb/>
            than unto any other. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2969" xml:space="preserve">'Tis more probable,
              <lb/>
            that they might hear ſome flying Rumour
              <lb/>
            of a Miracle that was ſeen in Judea; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2970" xml:space="preserve">which,
              <lb/>
            becauſe it hapned only in Hezekiab's Houſe
              <lb/>
            and Dial, and that too upon his recovery
              <lb/>
            from a dangerous ſickneſs, they might be
              <lb/>
            more apt to believe that it was a ſign of
              <lb/>
            it.</s>

          <p>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2972" xml:space="preserve">2. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2973" xml:space="preserve">Why have we no mention made of it
              <lb/>
            in the Writings of the Ancients? </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2974" xml:space="preserve">It is no
              <lb/>
            way likely, that ſo great a Miracle as this
              <lb/>
            was (if it were in the Sun) ſhould have
              <lb/>
            been paſſed over in ſilence; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2975" xml:space="preserve">Eſpecially, ſince
              <lb/>
            it hapned in thoſe later Times, when there
              <lb/>
            were many Heathen Writers that flouriſhed
              <lb/>
            in the World, Heſiod, Archilochus, Symo-
              <lb/>
            nides; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2976" xml:space="preserve">and not long after, Homer, with di-
              <lb/>
            vers others; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2977" xml:space="preserve">and yet none of them have the
              <lb/>
            leaſt mention of any ſuch Prodigy. </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2978" xml:space="preserve">We
              <lb/>
            have many relations of Matters that were
              <lb/>
            leſs obſervable, which were done about that
              <lb/>
            Time; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2979" xml:space="preserve">the Hiſtory of Numa Pompilius, Gy-
              <lb/>
            ges; </s>
            <s xml:id="echoid-s2980" xml:space="preserve">the fight betwixt the three </s>
          </p>
