phraſes

forth by Pius the Fourth, 1564.
That no

ſhould aſſent unto any interpretation of
Scripture
, which is not approved of by the
Authority
of the Fathers.
And this is the

why the Jeſuits, who are otherwife

greateſt affectors of thoſe Opinions,
which
ſeem to be new and ſubtil, do yet
forbear
to ſay any thing in defence of this;
but rather take all occaſions to inveigh a-
gainſt
it.
