OPinio Hectoris Euſonij Cypriane mi dilectiſſime, vera non eſt, quod ali
quisrectè poſſit intelligere rationes conſonantiarum muſicæ, ablque co
gnitione illarum mediante ipſo ſenſu, imo nemo põt calere theoriã mu
ſices, niſi aliquo verſatus ſit in praxi.
Qũo enim cognoſci poterũt
quid nam ſint diapaſon, diapente, diateſſeron, ditonus, ſemiditonus, hexacordum
maius, aut minus, & conſonantiæ ex ijs cum diapaſon compoſitæ, abſque earum
praxi?
vnde ſequetur neq; etiam cognoſci poſſe interualla diſſonantia. Et purus
practicus non intelliget quid ſit octaua, quinta, quarta, tertia maior, tertia minor,
ſexta maior, ſexta minor, decima maior, decima minor, vndecima, duode-
cima, decimatertia maior, aut minor, aut decimaquinta, & aliæ, ita vt ad
comparandam perfectionem muſicæ neceſſarium ſit, & thęoriam & praxim ad-
diſcere.
Cum pręterea Ludouicus Folianus apertè monſtrarit (etiam ſi id à diato-
nico ſintono Ptolomei deſumpſerit) reperiri duos tonos, maiorem, & minorem, id-
eſt ſeſquioctauum, & ſeſquinonum, & tria ſemitonia, maius, minus, & mini-
mum, ideſt ſeſquiquintumdecimum, qui eſt maius, ſeſquiuigeſimum quartum id-
eſt minimum, & mediocre, vt .27. ad .25. quæ proportio ſuperbipartiens vigeſi-
maſquintas appellatur, & cum cognouerit ſemiditonum conſonantem eſſe ſeſqui-
quintum, ditonum ſeſquiquartum, & hexachordum minus, vt .8. ad .5. quæ propor-
tio dicitur ſupertripartiens quintas, & hexachordum maius, vt .5. ad .3. hęc autem vo
catur ſuperbipartienstertias;
omnium ſimplicium conſonantiarum cognitioni, ex-
