mitt it, by which motion the Shank 5, (the End of
which appears in the Draught, at a Pin in the Slider
no. 10.) is removed, and the ſhank 4 brought down,
to take its Place, and ſtriking againſt the ſaid Pin car-
ries it away ſo far, and with it the Slider, till the Re-
gulator at E, to whoſe Handle the ſaid Slider is faſti-
ned, is thereby ſhut, and the Steam confined in the
Boiler, and by the ſame motion the ſhank no. 6. (which
in the Draught appears ſhutting downward) is raiſed
ſomewhat above the parallel of the Axis P, and lies
ready to be taken hold of by an other Pin in the han-
ging Beam Q, which upon the condenſation of the
Steam, (as deſcribed under the letter H) brings down
this Shank ſo far, till the Weight 14 is againſt brought
beyond the Perpendicular of the Axis P, on the other
ſide, when by its own gravity the ſaid Weight falls ſo
far from the cylinder, as the Piece of Leather 16 will
permitt; by which M@tion, the ſhank 4 is again remo-
ved from the aboveſa@@ Pin in the Slider, and the
ſhank 5 brought to ſtrike againſt it, whereby the Re-
gulator is opend, at which Time the Steam having a
free Paſſage out of the Boiler into the Cylinder, and
the Preſſure upon the ſurface of the Water in the Boi-
ler being abated, the Buoy in the Pipe H falls, and with it
the Ballance R, and Inceptor 7, and the Notch 2 taking
