A. lineam AB per centrum BC perpendic-
ularis ad BA: ducere lineam AC, ut DC
sit æqualis lineam datæ H
[Translation: Let there be a circle FDB, and a point A outside the circle. The line AB through the centre is perpendicular to BC. Draw a line AC so that DC is equal to a given line H.
Determinatio:
Continuetur CB ad I, ut BI sit æqualis
H. et agatur AI. producatur AF
ad K, ut FK sit etiam æqualis lineæ H.
oportet ut AK sit minor quam AI
[Translation: Determination
Let CB be continued to I, so that BI is equal to H and construct AI. Extend AF to K, so that FK is also equal to the line H. It is necessary that AK is less than AI.
