Conſiderentur modò duo
fluida inæqualitèr grauia ſpecie, ſcilicèt hydrargy­
rum, & aqua communis, certum eſt guttam mercu­
rij quatuordecies ponderoſiorem eſſe gutta aqueą
eiuſdem molis, quia verò vis aeris externa compri­
mens hæc duo fluida ſemper eiuſdem roboris eſt, igi­
tur non poterit conglobare, & ſphæricè contornare
guttam mercurij æquè amplam, ac eſt alia gutta aquę;
cùm mercurius grauior, & ideò magis reſiſtens requi­
rat maiorem vim compreſſiuam, quàm aqua minùs
grauis; ergo gutta mercurij, quæ ab eadem energia
aeris contornari debet vna pars decimaquarta opor­
tet vt ſit amplitudinis guttæ aquæ paritèr ſphæricè
conglobatæ; igitur eſt omninò impoſſibile vt aer ef­
ficiat ſphærulam mercurialem grandiorem, quàm a­
queam; at quia hoc conſtat experientia, guttæ enim
mercurij, quæ ſupra tabulam planam ſphæricè con­
tornantur, agitanturque, non minores eſſe videntur,
quàm guttæ aqueæ, quæ ſupra braſſicæ folia conglo­
bari
ſolent: Non erit igitur aeris vis compreſſiua ve­
ra cauſa turbinationis aquæ, vel mercurij.
