Scholium.
Obſeruabis primò ſi aliquando accidat, vt aliqui volunt ictum, qui
ſtatim initio motus violenti infligitur, non eſſe maximum, ſed minorem
eo, qui poſt aliquod confectum ſpatium infligitur;
quod probant in pila
ex fiſtula ænea ſurſum emiſſa, quæ maiorem ictum infligit in data diſtantia,
quod ſanè ſi verum eſt, hæc vnica eſt, ſeu ratio, ſeu cauſa, quòd ſcilicet ſur­
ſum pila pellatur ab igne, qui ab ore fiſtulæ erumpens per aliquod ſpa­
tium à tergo vrget; igni enim innatum eſt ſurſum euolare.
Obſeruabis ſecundò, vix poſſe manu mobile ſurſum rectà proiici, quia
ſcilicet manus extremitas motu mixto mouetur ex duobus vel pluribus
circularibus, de quo infrà.
Obſerua tertiò, non tantùm propter grauitationem conſeruari impe­
tum naturalem innatum, ſed etiam vt motui violento reſiſtat; at verò
non reſiſteret, niſi grauitaret.
Obſerua quartò, reciprocas rationes motus naturalis & violenti; in
quibus mirabile prorſus fuit naturæ inſtitutum, cum idem in vtroque il­
larum ſit principium.
Obſerua quintò, finem motus violenti eſſe multiplicem, nullum ta­
men à natura inſtitutum;
quippe potentia motrix, quæ agit ex appetitu
elicito, (vt vulgò aiunt,) ſeu cum cognitione, finem ſibi proponit ad libi­
tùm;
illa verò quæ vi compreſſionis excitatur per accidens ſurſum agit
mobile potiùs, quàm per aliam lineam; repercuſſa ſursùm videntur eſſe
magis iuxta inſtitutum naturæ.
